At the end of July we made the decision to go to Disneyworld for a few days. A lot as changed at DW due to COVID, including reduced hours, (they were closing at 6 pm while we were there - five hours earlier than their normal summer hours), reservations for entry to the parks, no park hopping, temperature screening, and (of course) masks and social distancing. Also, about half of the restaurants and shops were closed due to capacity restrictions/staffing at the parks. The change that affected us most was the cap on consecutive days that a passholder can visit, which is only THREE DAYS. Unless you stay at one of their resorts, then entry days are unlimited :/ Whomp whomp. But we decided to go for it because air fare has been so cheap, and let's face it, we were missing Disney!
While we had a good time, the masks paired with the August heat and humidity and all the restrictions, ended up putting a damper on the trip. You are only allowed to consume food or drink (including water) if you are in a stationary position/seated at one of their relaxation stations (these are new stations), restaurants, or sitting on a bench somewhere. They had cast members policing this policy, as well as making sure all the guests' masks were fully covering the nose and mouth. (Even on tiny kids in strollers!) On the plus side, the parks were nearly empty at times. We rode almost 70 rides on our four day trip. (we ended up staying one night at a resort to get that fourth park entry day.) When we visited in March we rode approximately 25-30 rides in five days, including using Fast Passes. No lines for our fave rides was a DEFINITE perk on this trip!
No one was more shocked than me, when after we returned home, we made the unanimous family decision to sell back our passes (which was an available option through mid August). We hope to repurchase them when this is all over, but for now we are so grateful we got visit several times in 2020. In the meantime, it's been fun to dream about other places that we could visit when C19 dies down. I mean, why not, right? ;)
Here's a little peek (ok, a big peek). I take too many pics!! {face palm}

If you haven't heard, Disney is shutting down and retheming Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog. Sooooo....I took a ton of pics of SM while we were there.
We love you, Disney, and can't wait to return someday soon!

I am so glad you were able to get in one last Disney visit for 2020. It was so interesting to hear about their COVID policies. And a little sad. I can't wait to have this all behind us. I'm with you, we would love to take our kids to Disney, but think the masks and other restrictions would be too hard for our family. It's on our radar for the future. We've also considered a Disney cruise. Have you guys ever done that?? I know they really appeal to a lot of people, but I'm not sure what they have to offer the older kids.
