That Summer Life

Eeeks, summer, you guys!  I love this time of year. This has been our life this summer: wake, play, eat, sleep, repeat.  There has been just so much good stuff this summer, and we are making a serious dent in our bucket list.  Today I got an email from Classical Conversations with the fall curriculum list and school year schedule and it reminded me that we've gotta soak in wonderful second of summer.

check, check and check

yep.

We loved hanging out with our friends at VBS, and making some new friends too.  This was the first year that both kids were able to volunteer.  Yay!

The summer of pie!  This one was a dark chocolate
The kids had a blast at Urban Air last week.  It's like a next gen bouncy house place.

I'd really love to hear, what are you doing to make the most of this wonderful season??

It was a dark and foggy night...

Late one night, soon after Christmas, I took my tripod out to the backyard to take a picture of our Christmas tree.  A minute or two later I turned around and saw a thick fog!  H and H immediately ran outside and started chasing each other around.  There's something a little magical about a little fog, no?

At the seashore / Havahisms

We've had such a gorgeous week at the beach. We've dug clams, found little eels, and even these shrimp type critters. (Someone needs to brush up on their sea creature vocabulary - get me a field guide quick!)

And cutest of all was what Havah told me as she walked in the surf yesterday: "Mommy, I feel most at home when I'm in the sea."

summer!

We hit the jackpot during low tide the other day.  We were fortunate to join a group of marine volunteers who needed help cataloging marine life on the beach.  What fun for my two little scientists!

So, this is day 2 of summer vacation!! How nice it has been to sleep late and do whatever we please!

Beginning next week the flurry of summertime activities begin.  There will be visiting cousins, aunties and uncles to hug.  A newborn baby (cousin) to welcome.  Friends that will travel across the country for a long awaited visit.  There is tennis camp,Vacation Bible School, swimming pools and s'mores on the deck.  Camping trips, birthday parties and play dates at the park.  Countless games of Uno, Chess and Go-fish.  There will be firework watching from our roof.

Sweet, sweet summer.

But for now, I'm sitting quietly, relishing the stillness of the 2nd day of my most favorite of seasons.

Happy June!

Two firsts of the season

They both arrived yesterday and both at the hand of my sweet Havalah. You'll never see me turn down a clutched fist of the first flowers of the season. Whether they're dandelions, forget-me-nots (my fave, by the way) or a lone tulip. All are welcome and all find their way immediately into my favorite white vase.

Not long after, she spotted spring's first snails. They're just babies right now, and yes, we already have a habitat full.

Welcome spring!
