Hellooo! I was once again inspired by my good friend, Whitney, to write a Day in the Life post. If you don't read Whitney's blog, you should! We became blog friends waaaay back in 2013, when she gave me tips on moving across the country with a cat, lol, and through the years have become real life friends. Whitney is sweet, smart, organized, generous, and so friendly. In this day and age where most bloggers are just trying to make a name for themselves, Whitney is so grounded, and I love that about her!
Back to the post :) Traditionally, August and September are heavier school months for us, because we're trying to figure out new curriculum, new subjects, new schedules, etc. This year is a little different in that there are no extracurricular activities at the moment, the silver lining being that that leaves more time for school work. Ha!
This particular 'day in the life' was a Wednesday. My kids have their CC community days on Monday, and Tuesday, so Wednesday we're all home together with our noses to the grindstone (at least in theory lol).
7:00 - I'm up and making my morning cup of tea! After much trial and error, I've decided that this is my fave cuppa, (originally purchased it at a grocery store in England), and since then found that I can purchase it at World Market.
7:00-7:45 - my quiet time, which usually consists of some blog reading, planning the day, and icing/heating my achilles.
7:45 - wake up H&H. As they get older, I'm sad to report that they've go to sleep later and later (go figure lol). Soooo, I start pestering them to get up about now, and by 8:00 they usually are.
9:00-12:30 breakfast, school, and lunch. 9:30 - Henry and I sit down to go over his school work for the week. The benefits of using Classical Conversations for high school is the lesson plans are all laid out. So we go over what's due this week and when, and what projects he has etc. (Havah and I did this yesterday, since her CC day was on Monday).
12:30 lunch! Today I made guacamole for Jon, Havalah and myself, which we had with grain free chips. Henry is enjoying a bean burrito!
1:00-3:00ish school. The afternoon is primarily for things they need to work on independently - papers they're writing, books they need to read and/or annotate, projects that need finishing up. This week Henry is completing a paper on Jan van Eyck for his dual credit, and finishing Robinson Crusoe. Havalah is writing a research paper for American History, and working on a Shakespeare group project.
By 3:00 we are usually ready to head out and run some errands, even if it's something simple like picking up a tea at our fave place, HTeaO, or wandering Target for a few minutes. I am truly so thankful that (most of the time) my kids want to run errands with me!
We are home by 4:30, when Henry has a standing appointment with some buddies to (virtually) play Hypixel, and Havalah and I signed up to take an art lesson over zoom. This class was a lot of fun! Havah is really stretching her artistic muscles and getting so good!
6:30 is dinner time! Jon has been working from home, so he's always right on time for dinner lol, and it's wonderful.
7:30 - we're done with dinner, and as Henry sits down to do Algebra, I start to tidy up the house from the day.
By 9:00 we're usually ready to sit down and relax. We've been working our way through the French subtitled version of The Count of Monte Cristo, which is around 5 hours, so we watch an hour or so tonight.
10:30 - the kids head to bed, and Jon uses my Percussion tool on my legs and achilles, (super glamorous), and then we head to bed around 11:15. After some Bible reading, and a page or two of fiction reading, it's sleepy time!
Some pics of our day... :)

My tea of choice. The perfect bold cup of black tea. Also, that's a paint roller to remind me of my ongoing painting projects of all the woodwork. Fun fun.

You are the sweetest, kindest friend. Thank you for all of those nice words. Wish I could give you a big hug!! I loved reading about your day. I'm laughing at your older kids sleeping in. My littles are usually my alarm clock. I miss having a Great Harvest Bread. When I was teaching in SLC, that was our go to Friday lunch spot. I love the art classes. Olive has been asking for me to sign her up for art classes, but there aren't many options for her age even pre Covid. Your family have the sweetest routines. Hope your achilles starts feeling better soon.
