October, according to my iPhone

A before and after.  More of these to come soon.

An afternoon in Galveston

The prettiest cupcakes (why don't mine look like this?)

A very happy, very sweet birthday boy (this was his last shot being nine years old.  One minute later, at 8:43 AM, he turned 10!  Ahh, this kid.

Blurry pic, but we had to document the BIGGEST snapping turtle we've seen here in Texas.  It looked so old, like a Great -great grandaddy :)

At the zoo with some special friends

Sometimes we will drop everything and head to IKEA for lunch.

Henry's requested birthday dinner - L and L Hawaiian BBQ's Katsu Chicken (They put their recipes on the internet - how awesome is that??)

Opening birthday presents - this one was an electric sander from Grandpa and Grandma

sweet, silly girl
Dreamy pumpkins big enough to sit on

A writing assignment  - complete with a cup of tea

This rat snake seems comfortable in my backyard, doesn't he?  :|  I came running when I heard Henry yelling, "Cobra! Cobra!"  Obviously glad it wasn't a cobra, but still...  I won't tell you about the garden snake that I saw climbing my fence today.  Noooooooooooooooo.

Fall colors

This mask absolutely cracked me up.  In hindsight I REALLY should have bought it.

These two :p

deep in conversation...

Hiding out - I cringe when I think of the spider potential there.

My two buddies

large owls - they did so well with the big, free strokes of color

We were so lucky to get to watch the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly, right in our own backyard.  It was awesome!

Boo!

I bought this sweet Scarecrow, dubbed Jack, when Havalah was one or two years old and I always hung it on her bedroom door during October.  Somehow it got thrown out during in our move to Texas.  You can imagine my excitement when my Mother in Law bought me a new "Jack" on eBay. Yay!
You guys.  It finally cooled down below 80 and I couldn't get my boots on fast enough.  Sadly, the heatwave was back the next day.

We celebrated Jon's birthday!  This was a deep dish, salted caramel chocolate chip cookie.  Yessssss.

And we gave him LOTS of love.  Mwahhhh!

We also had a little party with some friends.  H & H made some Mummy cupcakes!

One of the best parts of our new house is the backyard.  The kids spend hours back there everyday.  I'm so thankful for this.

We celebrated my birthday too!  Henry bought me my favorite pink cookie!

And Jon tracked down these Green Tea Kit Kats!  Awesome.  So awesome.

And I felt very loved.

And at the very last minute, we carved our pumpkin.

Glowing cheeks and all :)
Made up some mummy hot dogs...

And went trick or treating!

The candy trading afterwards...

...that went on...

...for sweet forever.  I'm pretty sure I fell asleep in the chair watching them.

 October didn't disappoint!  :)

The photos of the catipillar's journey are amazing! Your pics are just like the ones in my kids book about Monarch butterflies. What a great backyard you have! And your tile floor looks great!
