Daily life

Lately I am trying to be consciously mindful of how precious these days with our children really are. I am taking time to look right into their eyes the whole time they are talking to me (I am the multitasking queen, you see). I am going outside to play or reading books aloud when I would normally be doing housework or whatever. When one of them asks me to come and lay down with them as they fall asleep, I'm actually doing it, instead of just saying, "Hmm... I'll try to!"
Our school hours have been sweet and very rewarding. We are enjoying learning together throughout the day. We've found our groove and these little minds are daily soaking in new ideas and thinking new thoughts.
Another blessing has been spending some time with some lovely friends. Last week we went to my friend, Kristen's, house for High Tea. Their family had just finished learning about England and English customs, and were so awesome to share some very delicious knowledge with us. ;) Kristen is one of the coolest girls I've ever met. She is so classy and fun and her house is incredibly beautiful and welcoming. Her husband and 4 super-cute kids adore her.

Havah and Halle taking the art of tea very seriously.

Henry and Jones were a bit more relaxed.
My kids loved hanging out with these guys and exploring their house and yard. They basically live up in the mountains where it is like nature's playground. Awesome.

Oh, how fun! I agree...Kristen is one very classy, cool lady. :)
Being more mindful of the short time we have with our children and enjoying each moment is so important. Thanks for the reminder.

How fun! I like your thoughts on cherishing children. Considering the day we just had, perhaps tomorrow I should just sit around and hug them. Maybe they would behave better? :)

I've been feeling the same. I find it difficult sometimes to take my focus off my task at hand and place it on the little ones. But, you're right. Time is so short. Thanks for the reminder. Looks like you had a great time.

What fun and sharing the learning with friends makes it even more fun!

Ahhh, your header is so breathtaking! What a beautiful place to live! I hope it has cooled down a bit though. ;)

We LOVED having you here! Can you come again before the move? Maybe a fun movie night when Josh is working late? I love how you can see the paper towels at high tea for the boys in their "relaxed" picture...just keepin' it real...lol.
