I'm the one in the family who won't let go of summer, I usually go kicking and screaming my way into fall, but so far "fall" has been good to me with temperatures in the high 90s. :)
The kids and I celebrated the first day of the new season by taking a late afternoon nature walk. They brought along their notepads, pencils, backpacks and binoculars and we identified everything we could. (I really need to buy a field guide, although the What's That Bug? website is pretty helpful.) The kids found so many great things, from a walnut tree, huge brown grasshoppers with red wings, to tiny little clam shells. Some sort of Park Ranger Lady even rode by on her bike and stopped to hear the kids' comprehensive lists, which they loved sharing with her. She ended up answering quite a few of our questions.
Please, please, pretty please pose for a picture?

LOVE your pictures! I'm ready for Fall. I'm usually with you and enjoy the hot temperatures, but I'm ready for some cool breezes and warm sweaters. Maybe it's because I know in a few weeks I'm heading to sunny California and then after Christmas to Hawaii. Warm vacations always help with those cold winter months, don't they?
Oh, you're making me jealous! You lucky, lucky girl!!!
I'm just following in your first steps. You guys started the whole thing by going to Disney and HI all the time. You made me jealous! :)
Fun! I welcome fall with open arms and bit summer heat goodbye with a kick in the pants. Enjoy your fall!
Your photos from your nature walk are so pretty. I keep getting dressed in the morning in warm clothes, like it's fall, and end up putting the shorts and flip flops back on by afternoon. It's still hot!
Oops...that last comment wasn't Derek, it was me. ;) Sorry, didn't realize his account was signed in.
High 90s!?!? Holy cow. Looks like the lake is the perfect place to go in that kind of weather. Beautiful photos!
