Summer is so agreeable, isn't it? Our days have been so precious and so long and so wonderfully hot. We just can't ask for anything better. One of the things we really wanted/needed to get done this summer didn't happen. Selling our house. But that's just a minor detail, right? The really important stuff got done. So here's a snippet of our summer:
- Havalah enjoyed her first summer of swim team and learned that her favorite stroke is Butterfly. Jon and I would just look at each other and say "Good Lord, whose child is this??"
- Jon and I took a tennis lesson together.
- Henry learned to swim. This is the kid who wouldn't even put his head under the water and can now retrieve a ring from the bottom of the pool.
- We attended every kids' summer library program.
- We've spent approximately 115 hours at the pool.
- I read the entire Twilight series in about 3 hours.
- Jon and I stayed up way too late every night and in turn got up a little late every day. What are we, thirteen?
- We finally figured out a watering schedule for our yard, that actually kept our grass GREEN - the first time EVER.
- Our vegetable garden was really quite dismal.
- Jon and I have been greatly enjoying the 11th season of Big Brother. I know, classy.
- We've almost bought a new laptop about 10 times.
- The kids are in the middle of a two week tennis camp, where even with it being 95 degrees and they have sweat running down their little brows, they are having so much fun.
- We've eaten peaches and apricots as fast as we can until our tummies are cramping.
I know that summer must be coming to a close because of the obvious things: cooler nights and a cold breeze in the mornings. Night time creeps up on us a little sooner than usual. But also because curriculum is starting to come in the the mail and my lesson plan book is filling up with plans for a second grade and Pre-K year. Our registration is due for our Homeschooling Co-op and we are trying to decide between, soccer, tennis, or ballet for fall. So what's left for us this summer? There are a few things we'd like to do before this golden season comes to a close.
- We still want to lay on the grass after it's dark and look at the stars.
- We have plans to visit Rocky Reach Dam for a tour and some running around on the play equipment.
- We'd like to visit the Pioneer Museum.
- We need get to a local fruit stand that apparently has amazing homemade ice cream and buy very large ice cream cones.
Am I missing anything? What are your plans as the summer comes to a close?

I don't think you're missing anything. :) It looks like you've had a great summer...other than that pesky house thing. That sprinkler shot is so pretty. We're still trying to figure out just exactly how to set the sprinklers. Some parts of our yard have mushrooms from too much water, and other parts are brown.
I love that you read Twilight!!! :) I got Dalene hooked recently too. I think they are fun brainless books.
Sounds like a great summer! Hope you had a relaxing weekend and found some great finds at the warehouse. Didn't you miss the crisp air at night? Maybe not. I did. :)
oh Kristin!
You just get cooler and cooler all the time! I love your wit and humor and I love Twilight too! Want to go see New Moon with me? :) Sounds like such a rich and full season for you...so full of joy! Can't wait to see you soon,
(the other) Kristen
I love your list and will probably have to copy it with one of our own. I guess I better get some stuff accomplished so I can put it on a list ;) If you want a tag-along family, let me know when you're going to the dam. That's actually been on my list all summer and I never think of going. Did I mention I pass it EVERY DAY!
