may madness

trying to duplicate this table setting - hoping the weather will cooperate and we can be in the yard

Havalah's 7th birthday is next week...which means we've been planning for her party for weeks. Since I've had kids one of the major flaws that I've learned about myself is what a crazy person I become when there is an upcoming birthday. It is physically impossible for me to do what any normal person does which is buy/make a cake, invite over some buddies and just have a good ole fashioned birthday party. Uh uh. For me the planning starts months in advance. I obsess over themes, colors, cake flavors, frostings, party favors, decorations. To make matters even worse in the past I've been known to practically remodel the house and and even the yard. Please note: I already know I'm weird.
So here we are, her birthday is next week and the whirlwind has begun...

Havah (and I) have narrowed down the theme to a combanation of polka dots, the color pink and old fashioned candy. Loving the vibrant colors in this rock candy!

Trying to come up with a center piece that involves something like this...any ideas?

love the cupcakes in the top left!

You're not weird! But your kids are blessed to have such a great mom who loves throw birthday parties. I love the old fashioned candy idea. I'm sure it will be a beautiful party.
