Every Wednesday we attend Columbia Christian Co-op as an enrichment to our homeschooling plan. When we come home from our co-op we try to focus the remainder of our school day on any art projects we have in the works, or lately, certain artists. This last week we talked a little bit about the American artist, Jasper Johns, who began his painting career focusing on everyday objects. In particular we studied his figures, numbers, flag and target paintings. We found the inspiration at Art Projects For Kids for Havah's number grid painting (above), which repeats the numbers 0-9. To create this we first divided the canvas into equal squares. Then Havalah used a permanent marker to write the numbers and oil pastels to color everything. Wednesday, April 15, 2009
