Today's thoughts

{Havalah decorated my mantle for me.  I am LOVING it!}

As I was putting our Scottie girl outside early this morning, I was shocked to feel cool, refreshing air when I opened the back door.  I stood there in shock, breathing it in, and then immediately went inside and reported the good news to my people.  It feels like fall!  {happy dance!}

The kids are settling in and working hard at school.  I can hardly believe that we've already been at it for almost two months.  It takes awhile to find the new groove each school year, and I'm happy to say we've found it!

I love ponchos.  Like really, really love them.  I was excited to find a free pattern for this one.  I've got the fabric purchased and now just need to sit down and sew it together.

The kids and I are heading on a homeschooling field trip to Newman's Castle.  Henry is studying Medieval history this year, so it will be a great way to integrate that.

Henry's birthday is next week!  Hip Hip Hooray! He opted for an experience instead of a party this year, part of which we've already done (I'll blog it about soon). I always make the kids' birthday cakes a surprise and I've had fun planning this one.  Henry's (and all of ours) current favorite online game to play is called  Slither. I'm going to try my hand at a Slither themed cake, like this.  Or this.  If anyone knows where I can buy those large gummy snakes please let me know!  I don't think I have time to order them.  #procrastinator

I'm not sure if I've mentioned on ye ole blog that for the past 7-8 months I've been selling consistently on eBay.  Jon has always sold things here and there, but I decided to really get serious with it last winter.  It's a great excuse for me to visit allllll the estate sales, which is my absolute favorite thing to do anyway. We've been tucking any earnings away for a vacation.  My goal is for us to be able to use eBay cash when we take a trip.  I love feeling like I'm contributing, plus it's (mostly) pretty darn fun! (I'm almost on a first name basis with the local post office, ha ha.)

I've been on a new recipe kick lately.  If you are feeling like a nourishing, yummy fall soup,  this is the one for you.  Even Henry, who is not usually a soup lover, gobbled it up.  #momwin

Is anybody else feeling the pull toward all the pretty fall-ish clothes? A girl can window shop, right?  Look at this pretty top!  Or this whole outfit!  All the heart eyes!

And lastly, with October almost upon us, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

Have a good week, loved ones!

So many good things going on! Love your fall decor and the cotton! I'm impressed with your new ebay skills!! We've sold some things here and there, but I'd love to hear more about your tips and tricks to build a successful shop. I love to shop for treasures so I bet it's fun to shop for your shop :) Good luck with Henry's cake! I'm sure you'll nail it!!
