June, according to my iPhone

In June we were blessed with visits from both Jon's sister, Shalimar and our niece Hazel and my sister, Mary Beth, bro-in-law Bob and our niece Anna.  We loved having them come see us in Texas - and feel so lucky that we got to spend some hot summer days together, Texas style.

Some down time

This will always be known as The Summer of the Rainbow Loom.

Taking a tram tour at Nasa
One of the temporary exhibits (somehow having to do with Mars??) was a jump from 50 feet up.  There was a tension rope which limited how fast one could fall.  The hardest part was just taking that step off the edge.  The line to do this was long all day, but right before we left it had dwindled down a bit.  Jon and Havah got in line to give it a go.  Person after person got up there and just couldn't do it. One poor little girl had a terrible crying fit, almost as if someone had forced her to to try to do it.  Her dad was standing on the mat below encouraging her to go for it, but she just couldn't.  The three boys in front of Havah all got to the edge and then changed their minds, but when it was Havah's turn she stood there for a minute and then bravely took a step off!  Yay!  We yelled and cheered for her all the way down.  Later she said that she felt badly for the audience because the previous three people didn't jump, so she thought, "I better do this."  I love it!  Jon went next and he also said that step of faith was HARD.  But of course he did great too.  We were so proud of them!

The Saturn V Rocket

The Saturn V Rocket is over 36 stories tall and is the most powerful rocket ever built and operated. It played a major role in successfully transporting and landing American astronauts on the moon during the Apollo Missions. It is COOL.

I mean.  Look how cute these three are!

I love this freckle nosed kid with all my heart

Astronaut Hazel!

Dancing to some Texas two step at Mid-Way BBQ

Aunt Shalimar and Henry played an hour of basketball in 95 degree heat.  She won major points with Henry for this!

Hugs at the airport

Cool stuff at NASA in the astronaut training center

Even the lifeguard needs to cool down.  Ha!

We had the pool all to ourselves in the evening.

In the hamster balls at the mall - unfortunately afterwards they said it smelled like stinky feet inside! :{

Just hangin'

While we had summer guests Havalah kindly gave up her bedroom and instead slept in Henry's room.  One morning when I went in to wake them up I found Henry holding Havah's hand.  So cute.

Auntie Mary Beth let Havah pick a build a bear for her birthday gift.  Meet Oodles!

I love these two girlies!

And this girl absolutely fills my heart.

While we had my sis and family here we took them to Galveston Island.  One of our stops was the famous La Kings Confectionary, which is right near where the cruise ships dock. Candy, fudge, freshly roasted pecans, ice cream and taffy as far as the eye could see.  Yeahhhh...it was awesome.

Molasses taffy.  Good, but I prefer red licorice taffy! Mmmmm.

More Galveston shenanigans.  It's a tradition to eat at Bubba Gumps with my sis and her family.

"Take my picture, take my picture, Mom."

Look!  We match!

A stop at Bucee's for southern iced tea and kolaches - all three are Texas staples.

Hugs at the airport - come again soon!!

Just because I love these faces so much, here are some glimpses into our June days.  :)
You know what they say about the apple, right?

This is us after we received the news that our house offer was accepted! Of course, it ended up being the house that we didn't buy, but it's still a cute pic. Ha!

One has to wonder...

Pistachio and orange sherbet.  On a cone, with a spoon.

We tried HARD to find a house that has these vintage terra-cotta tiles, but alas it wasn't meant to be.

His expression is JUST SO CUTE I CAN'T TAKE IT.

Our waiter brought us dessert on the house!

Waiting for the opening whistle

Whee!

Celebratory Blizzards :)

Morning hugs

Swimming with their sweet cousin, Anna

He made me a Glassy Baby Rainbow Loom charm! My life is now complete. ;)
