Fairfield to Anaheim, CA

Today, bright and early, we headed to the Jelly Belly Factory! One of the few factory tours I've been on where one can actually seen the whole making (cooking?) process.

Yeah...dirt was the WORST.

Then we jumped back in the Suburban and drove toward San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

I was pretty excited to see Alcatraz!
San Francisco's Chinatown
This was also the day I learned how much farm land California has. A lot.

 So beautiful.
We ended our day with a flat trailer tire on I-5 at 8:30 at night. Jon, after being on the phone with AAA for half an hour, finally determined that AAA couldn't help us (we needed AAA + RV). Since it was a trailer tire/wheel and already destroyed we decided to limp along to the next exit for about a mile and Jon would change it himself.

Finally off the exit, we found we were in the middle of nowhere. Not a house, a business or even a street light in sight. We unloaded the trailer, dug out the tools and the spare, and Jon got to work. About ten minutes in a car pulled up and stopped about 30 feet from us. Two men got out and stood near their car. Our kids, who had been out of the car holding flashlights, got back into the Suburban and locked the door. The men stayed there for about ten minutes, then got back in their car, did a u-turn and left. I have NEVER been so shaken. I know that it was God's hand protecting us!

A half hour later we were back on the road and continued on our way to Anaheim. We finally pulled into the hotel at 2:00 AM. A fourteen hour day! Whew.
