a new school year

New beginnings are so exciting! Here's a glimpse of what we'll be using in our homeschool this year. (if you are interested in more information on any of these programs, just click the item.)

Miss Havalah - grade 4

Art - I am so excited about this art program and will share a project soon!

Foreign Language - I'm still researching language programs for Havalah. Second year Latin isn't being offered at our co-op this year, so we are hoping to teach it at home. Havalah has expressed interest in learning Italian or French, and I am narrowing down a few choices by what comes recommended for elementary aged kids, and of course, what's affordable.

Biblical Science - taught our our co-op

Piano - taught at our co-op

Ballet - once a week

Tennis - once a week

Mr. Henry - grade 1

Reading and Language arts - including copy work, writing and a bit of grammar

Math - I like Horizons Math very much, but am still looking for another program that will stretch Henry in a new way. He has a natural ability for mental calculations that I want to challenge. Last night he randomly told Jon what 3/4 of 400 is and then what the total of both numbers was. If you are a homeschooling family or parent and know of any fun math programs or even apps, let me know...?

Spanish - taught at our co-op

Biblical Science - taught at our co-op

Swimming lessons - twice a week

Tennis - once a week

As we get ready to begin school on this crisp and beautiful September morning, God put this verse on my heart. I need to remember that He gives me, and all of us, enough for each day.

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Now let's get started and have fun! Yay!

This looks so fun! As always, I am so encouraged by you and the beauty you weave in your home! The kids are getting so big and we MISS you guys! I can not wait to see what you do with that art book! I have eyed it for quite some time :) I used Horizons for a while with Halle and really liked it, but I am using Saxon for my youngers now, until third grade...I just like how comprehensive it is and the memorization of facts is amazing to me. Is is more spacial? Or just the head math awesomeness? I was thinking Miquon Math is really interesting and does a lot of both head calculations and spacial reasoning. We are weaving livingmath.net into our studies for some extra challenge and its a blast! Happy learning!
