Every once in awhile one (or both) of our kids says something extra sweet that gives us a glimpse into their little hearts.
We were taking a long walk last week, late in the afternoon, and it was just barely starting to get dark. We were coming upon a man who was talking and gesturing to himself and it was a narrow sidewalk so I asked the kids to walk behind me while we passed him.

After we had passed him Havalah said, "I hope that man is ok. It's good to remember that God doesn't look at the outward appearance, he looks at the heart. I'm sure when he looks at that man's heart he sees something wonderful."
I know that I've mentioned before that as a part of our Language Arts and Grammar program the kids do a copy work or dictation passage once a week. Last week Havah's dictation passage was from Hebrews 11:1-3 "Faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being certain of what we do not see. That is what the people of long ago were praised for. We have faith. So we understand that everything was made when God commanded it."
After writing these verses and thinking about it a bit, I asked her to use the passage as inspiration and write her own definition of faith. Her words: "I think faith is believing, even when all hope has left."
