Disneyland

We had an absolutely perfect time in LA with Aunt Hilary, Uncle Milton and Mickey Mouse. It has taken me so long to get a post up here, because I took over 600 photos and couldn't decide how to pick and choose our highlights. This post may win an award for the most photos ever.

We started our visit at Hilary and Milton's beautiful home with a little birthday celebration complete with cupcakes from Sprinkles in Beverly Hills. Apparently Katie Holmes knew exactly what she was talking about when she mentioned that Sprinkles Cupcakes were her favorite. I have never, in my life, eaten a cupcake that good. Never. Ever.

I had to throw in a picture of the cute matryoshka dolls Henry painted for Havalah's birthday. There are Daddy, Mommy, Havalah, Henry and Bella. He did such a good job keeping this a secret right up until the moment he handed her the wrapped package and said: "Here are your matryoshkas, Havah!"

Our first day at the park! Henry had drawn a map of Disneyland, so he could "show us how to get around." Which is actually pretty impressive considering the last time we were there he was 7 months old. :)
Right after riding Space Mountain, our first stop was the "build your own Light Saber station." Henry had been looking forward to this for some time and it didn't disappoint.

Don't use the force on me, Obi Wan Henry! These aren't the droids I'm looking for.

Our wonderful hosts! :)

For me, the Mad Hatter's Tea Party sums up my feelings for Disneyland: bright, colorful and dazzlingly fun!

There was also a bit of waiting in line....

... but we found things to do. :)

The longest wait we had was to see the fairies in Pixie Hollow. Wow. So beautiful! So was the fairy Iridessa. She and Havah had fun discussing their favorite colors.

There were also Tinkerbell and Terrence, and they were charming as well. Tink mentioned wanting to visit Havalah's back yard fairy house as soon as possible.

Sweet Winnie the Pooh

And another kind of sweet thing. I think Henry may have been a little tired?

Finally! Minnie! Before we left Seattle, Havalah drew pictures for each of the main characters. She worked really hard on this and they turned out beautifully.

Did you know there is Jedi training at Disneyland? Henry now knows how to correctly use his Light Saber, should the need ever arise. And thank goodness for that, you know? I just hope that my lamps survive his expertise.

The kids got in on the pin trading action during this trip. Fun!

We also had a few celebrity sightings. Hilary is a MASTER at noticing celebrities. We were shopping in the store outside of the Small World ride and I pointed out to her how "creepy that guy over there looks with his entire face painted to look like a tiger". Uhhh, Kristen, that's Seal and Heidi Klum! (being the stealth celebrity stalker that I am, I did manage to get a photo of them and their kids - if only I'd had my telephoto lens handy. You'll just have to click on that photo for a closer view) We ended up buying our purchases at the same time as Seal and Hilary actually joked around with the guy, who as it turns out is quite friendly! We also spotted Leann Rimes, Eddie Cibrian, Jennette McCurdy from iCarly and Ariana Grande from Victorious. All in all not bad, I'd say. :)

Taking a break to ride the train around Disneyland.

This lovely lady is my favorite. She and Havalah had a nice little chat about whether or not "we were enjoying our holiday?" Adorable.

Oh yes. And there was this place. He likes it there. Just a little bit.

Aviator Goofy

As part of our vacation package we were so fortunate to get to eat at Goofy's Kitchen. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Disneyland. We've eaten at a lot of character dinners, but this one takes the cake. And I'm not just saying that because the peanut butter and jelly pizza was so delicious.

"Her dress should be pink! No blue. No pink! No blue!"

On Havalah's birthday we went to the Plaza Inn for a birthday party with Pat E Cake. There was a cake decorating contest...where of course, everyone was a winner.

Pat E Cake

And some special friends dropped by.

Later she had a few presents to open. Havalah didn't watch any TV or movies until she turned 5, and her first one happened to be Peter Pan. Ever since then she has had a special place in her heart for that story, whether it be the original J.M. Barrie version or classic Disney. We managed to track down some vintage dolls - she already had Peter and Tinkerbell, but we were able to add Captain Hook and Wendy. Pretty exciting!
Coming down the hill at Splash Mountain!

I've been waiting and waiting for these pictures!!!! What a wonderful time you had. Brian and I looked through them and kept thinking about how much your kids will do. Disneyland is so different for us with a toddler. :) Although our toddler tends to do more than our 5 year old!

Yaay - Disney post! Great pictures and narrative. Love the shots of Henry in the giant Lego and Havah with the fairies. Where did you find the nesting dolls for Henry to paint? Such a sweet present.

Thanks, Shalimar! Henry loved making those for her. I had seen the idea somewhere...I can't take the credit. I ordered the dolls on ebay, I can search for a similar listing if you want.
