Easter projects

Just a few Easter art projects to share. But first, we "hoppened" upon the Easter Bunny while doing some shopping with Aunt Shalimar, Aunt Hilary, Grandma and Hazel. I love the way Hazel has her eyes glued on her Mommy.OK, back to business. Shiny metallic Easter eggs. Made by covering card stock eggs (we just cut up some thin boxes from recycling) with foil and painted them. Before the paint was dry, the kids used Q-tips to make designs. Original idea found here.

Stained glass crosses. I love the simplicity of these.

{Henry's cross}

Crayon resist Easter Eggs.

For my puzzle minded Henry, I found these bunny Tangrams. The pattern is at Family Fun.

{Havalah's sweet painting}

Bead and clay crosses. We made these crosses after finishing up our Easter readings. We dyed the dough by kneading paint into it, which was a first for us and quite fun! After the dough was finished baking we gave it a nice thick coat of Mod Podge, so I think the crosses will last a really long time. Project idea and instructions are from That Artist Woman.
The part of the Easter story that has really taken hold of my heart this year is when the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Temple was split from top to bottom. Did you know that this curtain was reportedly about four inches thick and so strong that a pair of horses couldn't pull it apart? But, as I've been teaching our children this Easter season, God tore it apart to show the people that they no longer had to be separated from Him. We can go into His presence anytime and all the time, through Jesus. What a gift. Have a wonderful Easter!
