Honest Scrap

Thank you, lovely Kristi, for passing along this fun award. You're sweet. I'm supposed to share 10 honest things about ME! This was fun!

1. With the exception of the last 6 months that our house has been on the market, I hardly ever make our bed.

2. I just can't make myself eat fresh peppers, fresh onions and lamb, but those are just about the only foods I dislike.

3. I spent approximately 30 minutes on the phone the other day discussing fall fashion - in particular what types of leggings, and what shades of denim will look best with tunics for fall - and I loved every minute of it.

4. I love the smell of my children's breath.

5. I actually lose sleep at night worrying about cancer taking either Jon or me. I'm so afraid of the gaping hole that losing one of us would create in the lives of our children - too much like the one that I was left with when cancer took my mom.

6. I kiss my husband and kids dozens of times every day.

7. My favorite "go to" book is Jane Eyre.

8. When Jon and I were first married, we owned a teensie tiny sail boat. We would sail it on the lake where Jon's parents live and very occasionally on Lake Washington. Once when we were out on the boat goofing around with Jon's little sister, Hilary, and her best friend Christy Ann, we completely flipped the boat over - the mast was pointing straight down. Even though the whole incident was hysterically funny and we all laughed until we were crying, I am now a little afraid to go out on a sail boat.

9. When I went to college, my parents, not realizing it would bother me, got rid of most of my childhood toys, including my prized Strawberry Shortcake doll collection. Pathetically, I've never really gotten over this and hope to someday stumble upon some at a thrift store or garage sale for a very good price.

10. For as long as I can remember my favorite Bible verse has been: Philippians 4:5 - Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

I'll pass the award onto Delena, Painted Rainbows and Chamomile Tea, and Skylark. All three girls are homeschooling mommies and are insightful and inspiring to boot. :)

Oh, I love that tunic. I am so fashion challenged. I could use any advice.

Smelly breath is true love. ;) I can't say the same.

I have a little bad thought banishing routine. Scary thoughts keep me up at night as well.

What a lovely Bible quote.

I've have totally been wanting to do this Honest Scrap. Thanks.

I must confess (although I haven't on the blog) I am sending Cate to kindergarten. Lots of reasons, I hope to share. We still plan to have a super focused learning home. Just last night, Cate was reading in bed, lisening to classical piano CD and trying to memorize the Greek alphabet. Yea, we are leaning focused. ;)

I loved reading this. Your favorite verse seems to be something you've really taken to heart. Your gentleness is very evident, and something I think is so wonderful about you.
I miss my Strawberry Shortcake dolls as well. The new ones were just so different. Remember how good the old ones smelled?

Ohhhh, Jane Eyre....LOVE LOVE LOVE those Bronte sisters! I'm so sorry about your mom and that you worry about it so much, but I can understand why.

I love these honest posts.
