photo challenge #2 and splashes of joy

About once a week we will venture into our local Goodwill for some treasure hunting. One of the employees is always, always, always looking very glum. No matter how hard we try to smile, or be friendly, or whatever, we never get a response. I hadn't given this much thought until the other day when Havalah, who had just read this book, told me that she'd like to, somehow, cheer up the "Goodwill lady". If you're not familiar with this book it's about taking a frown and turning it upside down into a smile. The kids in the story do this by giving people "splashes of joy". So, yesterday, Havah made her own lovely splashes of joy. One for the Goodwill lady, and an extra because "you'll never know when you're going to need one for someone" (her words). So...later today, we are heading over to Goodwill...I'll let you know how it goes... UPDATE: so, we wandered around Goodwill for 1/2 an hour while Havah slowly gathered her courage to approach the Goodwill lady. Finally she walked over to her and handed her the Splash of Joy. "I made this for you," she said. "Cool. It's pretty," was the response. Havah skipped back to me. :)

I can't wait to hear the result of the Splash of Joy! What is the story behind Hermie? Is he a pet?

What a patriotic little hermit crab. ;) I think I even know which lady at the Goodwill Havalah wanted to give a little splash of joy to...I hope it worked. She's such a sweetie.

Yeah for Havalah! It takes courage to do what she did yesterday. I am proud of her.

I didn't know you had hermit crabs. I thought that would be a good pet for Hazel in a few years. Don't require much upkeep, do they?
