homemade stilts

Remember playing on these as a kid? Before Havah was born I saw this idea in a Martha Stewart Kids magazine and have wanted to make them ever since. As you can see, it takes me awhile, but I eventually get around to my "to do" list. ;)

H & H each decorated one of the cans and Jon punched holes and attached twine. The great thing is, the kids are actually really good at walking on them! Henry cruises across the room and this morning actually tried to hop across the room on them!

Happy playing!

so cute! We are painting bread today for our snack and then making hats like George from Curious George. Eli loves the George books. Kye is still very sick, so we are laying low.

What fun! Now why is my first thought to buy stilts rather than to make them?! I hope I follow your great example when Hazel's old enough to do crafts.
By the way, she said 'Nack (snack) and headed for the fridge door this morning - so exciting that she's starting to express herself with words!

I saw it in parenting magazine....just take a piece of bread, paint brushes and food coloring (mix the food coloring with water) and paint the bread. Then of course Eli loves to it his creations. The bread soaks up the colors and it looks pretty cool. I'll try and take a picture for you.

Your kids are the most blessed kids I know to have you both for parents. Such fun! Love, their Grandma
