I spent a long time scouring art websites trying to find an idea for a father's day present that the kids could make, something a little unusual. I finally found this one over at the Crafty Crow, who found it here. I was thrilled! It was exactly what I was hoping for! I think the kids did such a great job!
we started with small canvases. I traced the kids hand prints in oil pastels and then they colored in the hand prints using oil pastels. This was fun because we haven't used these before.
Then the kids painted their canvas with water colors. The mom who came up with this project wisely recommended buying high quality water colors, and I'm so glad we did - I think it made all the difference. (a perfect excuse to buy watercolors! ;)
we finished with a spray with acrylic varnish, which gives them a nice shine. they are so proud!

Those turned out so cute! I read the Crafty Crow as well and I've been wanting to do that project...maybe for Christmas?
Those are awesome! Great job! :)
