Sweet Henry

Today while the Havalah & Henry were in their rooms for their quiet time I could hear our 20-something neighbor, Drew, outside next door working on his motorcycle. By *working* I mean revving it up, turning it off, revving it up, turning it off. It was so loud that I actually came upstairs to look outside and see what the loud noise was. After confirming that the roof wasn't caving in, back downstairs I went to finish whatever I was doing. Seconds later I could hear Henry from his bedroom, crying - loudly. He was so loud I was sure that the neighbors could probably hear him OVER Drew's motorcycle. I must explain that when the kids are in their *quiet time* they know that they are actually supposed to be quiet and let me have some quiet time, too. So, grudgingly I walked up two flights of stairs to see what was going on. When I got to Henry's room he was sobbing. I asked him what was wrong fully expecting to hear that he'd fallen out of bed and broken his leg or something equally horrible. Through his dramatic cries he told me: "Sob, Drew, sob, is going, sob, to ride, sob, his motorcycle without a HELMET sob sob sob!!!!" "What Henry?," I asked looking out the window. "Mama, Drew is going to ride his motorcycle without a helmet, and that's not safe!!!" Well, this, of course, is the cutest thing I've heard in a long time so I had to share it. (by the way - after lots of reassurance the house was quiet once again.)

Very sweet story - thanks for sharing! Those are the kinds of things I think I miss hearing about now that you're "over there." Wow - it's been almost a year since you moved. Feeling like home now I hope.
