A quick trip to Waco (because of course)

Today the floor installers are coming to work on our kitchen floors (!!!!!), so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take a day trip. Since visiting Waco is on our summer bucket list we decided to go with it!

Wanna come along?
First stop: FUEL, of the honey butter chicken biscuit variety :)

wide open road

stopped to see a friend, and get actual fuel this time :)

And get Texas tea of course.
{{taps employee on shoulder}} "Excuse me sir, do you have any larger cups than this 56 ouncer?" ;)
In case you wondered what my kids were doing during the 3 hour drive. Havalah was writing, Henry was watching Big Hero 6, and I was listening to Jo & Laurie.

I mean, we were driving right by....

We made it!
You guys, there is no place in Texas that is hotter than Waco.  Nope. We literally felt like our skin was melting off.  It is CRAZY hot here.

My first time seeing Magnolia Press.  Wow! Such a beauty.  And look how close the Silos are...

They've only been open for a week since the covid shut down, so it was pretty empty in both shops.

one of these pedestals came home with me.

the green space is under construction
Right before we left we popped into the bakery for the Silobration cupcake for me, Dr. Pepper for Henry, Elderflower Rose Lemonade for Miss H, and the Prized Pig for Jon.  Y'all, this cupcake is the best.  If you've seen the recipe floating around anywhere CONTACT ME. ;)

And lastly, on the drive home we spotted what is possibly the cutest old hotel building I've ever seen. Gah!

What a sweet trip! I've always wanted to visit Waco. I'll have to plan a trip when it's a cooler time of year. I love seeing their in store displays, signs and all the pretty spots they've transformed. Glad you got to cross that off your Summer to do list :)
