Goals for 2017

I love January. Although I've never really been one for making resolutions, I've found that if I don't write down my goals, they don't always happen. (They don't always happen anyway, but whatever ;) So, while I wouldn't consider these resolutions, per say, here are a few things that I hope I can accomplish in 2017.

still soaking up Christmas

1) Completely cut out pop. I gave up Diet Coke about 5 years ago when Henry asked why it was OK for me to drink it but not him. Right then and there I switched to regular soda, and would enjoy one once or twice a week. Lately my focus on food has changed, and I'm just sort of done with consuming chemical laden things. (Goals, right?)

2) Rise and shine. In the last several months I've been setting my alarm to get up an hour before the kids, and it has become something I look forward to every day. I'd like to increase this by an extra five minutes every few weeks or so, to work up to another hour, so I am completely done with all my stuff by the time H&H awake.

3) Keep up with Latin. Latin is hard, y'all. And very time consuming.

4) Keep at least 30 items listed on eBay at all times. I really like selling on eBay and it's a great excuse to visit estate and garage sales.  :D

5) Keep it movin'! Last April I took the kids to pickleball not realizing that I would love it too. This is first time in 3 years that I'm exercising regularly again, and it has been wonderful. I actually really love to exercise but it has fallen to the rock bottom of my to-do list in recent years.

6) House goals:
-Finish the kitchen

-Redo the playroom and upstairs hallway - paint, new lighting, hang artwork, and rip out 70s wet bar.  That's right folks, our house came with TWO 70s wet bars! :|

-New ceiling fans in the living room and our bedroom

-Hardwoods installed on the stairs and throughout the upstairs (this cost is a necessary reason why I want/need to keep selling on eBay and begin teaching handiwork classes at the rec center, see below)

7) Finish up my bio and resume to hopefully begin teaching sewing classes to kids at the Rec Center. I went through the curriculum writing process, met with all the right people and got it all approved, but when they asked me to write a bio and resume I just kind of froze. Bio? Resume? I want to pick this back up and get it all submitted. Like now.

8) Take more pictures. I always work on a calendar for my in-laws, and this year I was sorely lacking photos. (Thank goodness for vacation photos.)  I WILL be better about it in 2017.

Havah's recent handiwork :) Pop tart!
9) Keep getting to know people at our new church.  Last summer we switched from the mega church we had been attending, when a friend from our homeschool group invited us to visit their church.  This month Havah and I will attend two events, a secret sister activity and a mother daughter tea.

10) Find an old wooden doll house to refinish with my kids. I've been scouring Craigslist, OfferUp, Varage Sale, estate sales, and garage sales all year long for an old and affordable one, and I'm hoping 2017 will be my year. What do you think - should I be watching eBay? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for shipping.

a great reminder for me!

If you're reading this I'd love to hear any goals/resolutions you might have for yourself or your home. Do share with me!

What a list!! I'm so inspired by all of your plans for 2017. Love the house projects, your personal goals, your parenting goals (waking up so early to have everything done before the kids wake is amazing!), your church goals, teaching goals and your ebay store. I'd love to get into selling things on ebay because I really enjoy shopping/thrifting. You inspire me, friend!! Happy New Year!! PS I just adore your tinsel covered tree.

I love your goals! I am now inspired to write my own......I like that these feel more like projects and fun activities than resolutions. Although, I think one of your goals should be to find a way to visit with your friend Kristi.....!
