A few months ago we drove to Galveston to tour the NOAA Sea Turtle Research Laboratory. Sea turtles from the south-eastern coast of Florida are brought to the research lab right after they hatch, and then used for study purposes to save sea turtles that were drowning in shrimping nets. It was fascinating to learn of the "trap doors" that are constructed into the nets so the turtles can escape.
It was also a great opportunity to try a new spot for lunch.
And of course no trip to Galveston is complete without playing on the beach :D

Best field trip ever!! Those tiny turtles are adorable and you're lucky to live so close to the beach.
