We've been enjoying so many good books these last few months - one of the benefits of winter weather! Lately when the kids have their silent reading time, instead of running around like a mad woman, I've been sitting down to read too. Here are a few books we are loving.
People have mixed feelings about the Mary Poppins books. They are not a lot like the Disney Mary Poppins but we like them a lot.

This book and it's sequel (Wednesdays in the Tower) are two of Havalah's favorites. If you have a school aged child in your life, they need this book! So good.

Henry's been working his way through the Box Car Children books. They are always available at thrift stores, so it's easy (and cheap) to collect the series.
I'm reading Gone With the Wind for the first time EVER. I go back and forth between *loving* it and wanting to punch Scarlett. WHAT is with her??I've been reading and reading and rereading Lucinda Scala Quinn's two cookbooks. They are incredibly inspiring!!

Jon has been reading Huckleberry Finn aloud to us at night. It has been a good platform for some great discussions with our kids :-) There are some hilarious parts!
What have you been reading? I'd love some recommendations!

I just read The Mark of the Dragonfly. Eli is reading Happy Birthday Mrs Piggle Wiggle and Encyclopedia Brown books.
I love that The Boxcar Children are making a comeback :) Looks like everyone is enjoying reading at your house. LOVE the idea of a family read aloud. I'll file that away to use in a few years at my house. Can't wait to hear your review of Gone with the Wind when you finish it. I'm currently reading Homer's Odyssey: A fearless feline Tale or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat. So far, so good!!
