Today I am...

Thinking about...the day ahead.  We've got a long to-do list.  After school, the highlights are Havalah's hair  appointment and stopping in to the humane society for a visit with the animals.

early morning light

Thankful for...so many things.  The gorgeous sunshine that greeted me when I woke up.  The freedom to homeschool our children.  Jon's job - something I will never take for granted.  The fact that today is Friday!  Whoop!

"Do I look stylish? I feel stylish."

Cooking...toast for breakfast, smoothies for lunch and nothing for dinner! Friday is our night to eat out and I look forward to it ALL WEEK.   Today we are using a  Groupon for a local Italian place.

Missing... Jon - his work days are just over 12 hours, with commute.  It's a long day and I'm so ready to see him when we walks through the door!

Laughing...about Henry's haircut yesterday.  The stylist had just started cutting Henry's hair, when he walked over to me, saying he was really sorry, but I was going to need to take Henry to the hospital - something about how he had a deep cut behind his ear. What??? With shaking hands I looked behind his ear and saw...dried blood?  No.  Dead skin?  No.  Gum!!??? Yes!

Henry had just finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for about the 100th time and had decided to stick his gum behind his ear like Violet Beauregarde.  It had been there TWO days and the stylist thought it had completely adhered to his skin.  After we got it off (no big deal) I laughed long and hard.  Henry, however, was not laughing.  Haaaaa haaaaa!

Wishing...I could go shopping!  There is something about spring that makes me want to shop shop shop! I think it must be packing away winter and looking toward spring.  A fresh start!

Deciding...whether or not I like my new haircut.  (see a hair cut theme here?  It's because of spring, I tell ya!)  I had my stylist cut blunt bangs and, well, the jury is still out.

Heeelllo humidity! Don't worry. This was pre-hair cut.  Whew.
Challenging myself...to drink my vegetables.  For lunch I'm filling up the Vita-mix with all the veggies and fruits I can.  Beets, kale, cabbage, carrots, apples, limes, oranges, mangos...it all goes in.  We all seem to have a lot more energy when we're drinking these smoothies.  And I read recently that Kale is a collagen booster! Bonus.

Watching...nothing right now, but at night Jon and I are enjoying Auction Kings and Pawn Stars.  We accidentally subscribed to Amazon Prime,  (gotta pay closer attention to when that free trial ends :-\ ), but on the bright side are getting to watch all the shows we've never seen but always wanted to watch.  I'm thinking in my next life I might like to run an auction house...? ;-)

Reading...The Antelope in the Living Room, which is a hilarious book about marriage.  I even got to get my copy signed by the author last weekend.  Pick it up if you can...you won't regret it.

Working on...this mirror!  We picked it up at Goodwill and are trying to decide on a color so we can hang it in Havalah's room.  Something bold!

Looking...for a sun hat.  I can tell that the sun is definitely stronger down here.  Jon thinks I should get a cowboy hat, but I don't know.... Hmmmm.

Wishing...my wonderful, Godly father in law, Ken a happy 70th birthday!!  We love you Gramps :-)

I just got my copy of The Antelope in the Living Room in the mail today! I can't wait to start reading it. A cowboy hat is a good idea. :-)

I love reading your blog. Wish I could come visit your new life! Guess what! I have decided to homeschool Grace next year. We are very excited! I am going to somehow keep my job too. Working three mornings during the week and Sat. morning. I would love to just quit my job but it is helping us pay off our debt, so I have to keep it for now. Anyway, I will be calling you sometime in future to glean some homeschool wisdom. Really missing you guys, hope someday we can come visit you in Texas. ~Christy Ann

Your post is so sunny and full of fun!! I love Charlie and the Chocolate factory and your son's gum story is something straight out of the book. Your new bangs look great!! Good luck with the hat hunt. I always admire hats at Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls & TJ Maxx.
