my date for tea

I've waited 8 years to hear those 5 little words: "Mommy, let's go to tea!" We were out the door before you can say English Breakfast. It was about time to try our neighborhood tea shop anyway. It's good to support local businesses you know ;) (As if I needed convincing.)

She had the cucumber and cream cheese sandwich with the cherry chocolate chip scone. I had the herbed cream cheese, strawberry and turkey sandwich, with the peppermint chip scone. We decided next time we'll switch. She liked the Devonshire cream and I preferred the lemon curd.

I had Assam, the darkest most robust tea they had. A twist of lemon and two sugar cubes for me.
She had Apricot Peach tea with 5 sugar cubes and a lot of cream. (It tasted like caramel, and oh so good.)

This is so very sweet. I love how Havalah is so dainty in sipping her tea!

Oh, what fun! Those tea cups are so pretty! I tried to take my daughter to tea yesterday, but the place was closed.

Thanks for that sweet comment you left on my blog. :) Junior high is looming ahead...and it's sort of scary.

That's the SWEETEST photo of your baby girl sipping tea. I love it.

I have a friend who raised 4 daughters as a single parent. Whenever she got overwhelmed or her daughters got uber-emotional (which I have to imagine was a lot), she'd quietly put on a pot of tea and have everyone sit down around the table. She said they had the most amazing conversations and pretty soon her daughters would sit down as soon as they heard the teapot whistle.

Now I try the same thing with Abby. When she gets all girly and teary, she says, "Mom, can you make tea?" She doesn't even like tea, but there's just something about it, isn't there?

Thanks for sharing!
