Last week we were blessed to get to spend some quality time with our families. We had a little celebration on Sunday that was part Father's Day, part anniversary celebration and part family birthday party for Havalah.
My Dad has officially passed on his dozens of magic tricks to Havalah and Henry. Both my sisters and I have wonderful memories of him doing these tricks at our birthday parties while we were growing up. Havah took this passing of the baton very seriously, and she and my Dad spent several hours together while she learned how to do many of the tricks.

We were also very happy to have my sister Mary Beth and my niece Anna here for the week. H & H adore Anna and even though she's 14, she's never too old to play with them! :)
I felt like that this poem, that Havalah recently wrote for one of her school projects, says it all!
"My Home"
Oh my wonderful home,
Could never find a better one.
I really think it's great,
And while in it, I turned eight!
If you try to visit my home,
You won't find it in Rome.
And if you try to make me move away...
No I won't!
Right here I will stay.

I LOVE this post. I love the cake, what your mother in law says about birthdays, the pictures and the playroom! I love that your kids do magic too-next time we see you I want to see some tricks! How did you paint that PLAY on your wall? Soooo cooooool!
What a lovely poem by Havalah!
That's a wonderful poem by Havalah! I also love the birthday cake. :)
All the fun remembered in your photos. A cute picture of the four together! No matter where you move, "home" goes along, in your heart, as it has with Havah..I love her poem! gram.
Love - ADORE - artsy kids!
And, by the way, you can copy me any ol' time. :)
OK, so I spent most of my time in junior high algebra doodling different types of fonts! It finally paid off! I just took my ruler and drew out the letters, Jon made sure they were level, with his trusty level, and then I taped them out and slowly painted them. Thanks for the compliment!
I love the wise words of wisdom from your mother in law. Never thought of it, but I think its true.
How fun!! Great advice, I've never thought about it like that before, I really like that!
