road trip '08

We just returned home from a visit my sister & family in Idaho and a detour over to Seaside Oregon. It was so great to see the Sherwoods and just be in their presence for a few days. They truly live in such beautiful country. On our way to Idaho we took some neat side trips that broke up the long days of driving. A neat place that we totally stumbled upon was a Children's Fossil Museum. The kids got to play paleontologist and handle a lot of cool fossils. I wish I would've had my camera... Next stop was at a pretty area called Idaho's Thousand Springs. The water falls were literally shooting (straight out) from the sides of the hills. Our last side trip was to the Craters of the Moon - which was so amazing! Jon had one specific area he wanted to show to us, but unfortunately that area was closed for the day. So, if you ever find yourself in South Eastern Idaho, I'd highly recommend any of these areas ;)

This was my first visit to the Oregon coast. On the way there, I was prepping the kids, saying that I thought the beach would be pretty rocky. Jon, with a smile said, I think YOU'RE going to be surprised! Not a rock in sight. It was gorgeous.

What? You'd never been there before? You'll have to do a whole trip down the coast sometime - Sea Lion Caves and all.
I love the picture of Jon heading out to sea and Henry running in. Not sure why, but I do. I also like the shot of Henry in the seagulls.
